STANDARD SPACE
Standard Space is an artist run project space and gallery for innovative and challenging contemporary art. Our primary focus is on collaboration with artist / curators who champion emerging and mid-career artists in amplifying the voices—both curatorial and artistic—of underrepresented groups in the art world. We partner with curators who push the envelope and welcome all media, from video installation and performance art to painting, printmaking, and sculpture. THEO COULOMBE - ARTIST IN RESIDENCE, FOUNDER & DIRECTOR
Theo has been working in art and photography since receiving his MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art. He has worked for and with artists such as Ayana Evens, Tsedaye Makonnen Shantell Martin, Sue Williams, John Coplans and Paul Garrin and is included in numerous collections.
His work has been exhibited with the New Britain Museum of American Art, Imperial War Museum, London, Tang Teaching Museum, Aldrich Museum, Margaret Bodell Gallery and AOT Project Salon. After living in Williamsburg for twenty-three years, he moved to Sharon, Connecticut, where he opened Standard Space gallery in 2017. Previously, he ran Brooklynphoto Studio and the One Night Only Art series, He has organized solo exhibitions of works by Kristin Worrall, Matt Magee, Lizzie Gill, Jessie English, Shantell Martin, Ghost of a Dream, Will Hutnick, Naomi Reis, Tei Blow, Sean McElroy, Maria Baranova, John-Paul Philippe, Purdy Eaton, Natalie Beall and Lisa Warren, among others. He has just finished a one year position as Photography Instructor at The Millbrook School.
